Travel bursaries for PhD students
If you are a PhD student and your abstract has been accepted, you are invited to apply for a travel bursary, generously funded by the SNSF's Scientific Exchange fund. Please e-mail the following to icome2026[at]es.uzh.ch :
- one-page CV, highlighting academic background and research/studies relevant to ICOME-14, such as previous conference talks and seminars
- a travel budget
- a short statement declaring the (non-)availability of funds from your home institution, and/or funds you were already awarded for this conference trip.
According to the SNSF’s general guidelines and the particular guidelines of its Scientific Exchange fund, the available sum depends on the region in which the PhD student is based:
- Europe: up to CHF 500.-
- North Africa, Middle East, Caucasus, Western Russia: up to CHF 700.-
- Everywhere else: up to CHF 1000.-
Application documents will be evaluated according to the following criteria:
- applicant’s abstract for ICOME-14 must have been accepted
- applicant’s area of research and other activities (as described on CV) fit the themes of ICOME-14
- inclusion & diversity
- availability of other financial support from applicant’s home institution
- If there are too many applicants, ECRs with less conference experience will be given preference
